Grenada Wins Gold at Miami Rum Renaissance Festival
Miami Beach, Florida - April 26, 2012
Rum enthusiasts from South Florida and beyond hit the hot spot at Deauville Beach Resort in Miami Beach for the 2012 Miami Rum Renaissance Festival. This festival was open to the public throughout the weekend of April 21-22. Over 40 vendors showcased their rum products, serving a crowd of over 6,000 rum lovers.
One may ask, when planning their yearly marketing budget, should Grenadian companies spend the extra expense to attend international events like the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival?
Two well-known Grenadian companies think so. De La Grenade Industries and Grenada Distillers Ltd are marketing their products to the international community through the 2012 Rum Renaissance Festival.
Both of these companies have a rich history in Grenada and deep roots in the local community. You can see the pride and high standard of quality in their products at this year’s show.
Numerous companies compete at the festival’s events—and not just for bragging rights. These awards’ main purpose is to ensure consumers of the quality of their product through expert evaluation. These awards also can generate a company’s marketing buzz on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, thus enhancing consumer awareness.
The 2012 RumXP International Tasting Competition that was held at this festival awarded Grenada Distillers Ltd. producers of Clarke’s Court a Gold Seal for their Superior Light Rum. This product is known as a perfectly aged rum with a clean, fresh taste. Clarke’s Court had a lot to celebrate at this event—not only from winning a Gold Seal, but because of the increased awareness to South Floridians of their new Miami importer.

Also on hand was Julian Gates from Golden Gates Importers, who introduced their line of products to potential buyers at the show. “The rum festival was a great experience, as well a great opportunity for people to familiarize themselves with our rums, and to create awareness amongst rum consumers,” explained Gates.

The other Grenadian presence at the festival was La Grenade Liqueur, a rum-based product presented by De La Grenade Industries. Notably, De La Grenade Industries features Grenada’s nutmeg as a unique ingredient. Clearly, this spice is not only used for delicious syrups and jams, but can also be used to enhance an already outstanding rum-based liqueur. Moreover, La Grenade Liqueur showcases a beautiful bottle design that entices the curious to try their liqueur. Featuring this alluring bottle design is one way to ensure the success of a product to potential customers—and this technique proved quite effective for De La Grenade Liqueur at the show.
When you first experience La Grenade Liqueur, you are delighted by its enchanting liqueur aroma even before taking a sip. Suffice it to say that De La Grenade Industries will not disappoint you with their product.
Not many rum lovers knew about this rum-based liqueur, La Grenade Liqueur, since the show was primarily focused on rum. De La Grenade did excellent job of bringing awareness to their liqueur product at this festival. By entering shows such as the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival, Grenadian companies like De La Grenade Industries and Grenada Distillers Ltd show that they are willing to take a chance in order to ensure that their products will garner recognition within the international community. Is it worth the expense to invest in events such as the “Miami Rum Renaissance Festival”? Consider the fact that over 6000 people were exposed to these two Grenadian companies’ products. If each of those 6000 people told just one friend, this could potentially double the exposure for these two companies.
Later this year, the Grenada Board of Tourism will sponsor the Third Caribbean Rum and Beer Festival, held on November 2-3. This festival, like the one in Miami, will bring great exposure and opportunities for Caribbean and international rum and beer companies to market their products.
